Ardans' Approach
for knowledge management

The four dimensions addressed by our MAKE approach are :

• Diagnosis: this initiates an internal knowledge-sharing dynamic by involving the various actors concerned from the outset in the method. The diagnosis establishes the mapping of needs according to the entity's business. In other words, it prepares the success of the steps to follow.
   
• Collection: this is based on the formalisation and consolidation of know-how and knowledge. It draws on implicit knowledge, acquired through the experience of the entity's specialists, documents that already contain formalised knowledge, and past operations. It consolidates the common language. The Collection methodology thus describes the aspects of initialisation, capitalisation and validation of knowledge. Appropriate indicators are used to monitor the progress of the process.
   
• Implementation: this describes the various means, mainly computer-based, to be used to use and update the knowledge base created by the Collection operationally. This dimension requires a strong link between the approach and the software that supports it so that the system offered to users and managers is homogeneous and therefore effective. Lastly, the IT resources for implementation must be scalable, adapting continuously to changes in the business, communicating, interacting and being consistent with the information system and its architecture.
   
• Life: it makes the organisation's collective memory effective. It makes the system sustainable. It organises the updating and monitoring of knowledge. Life thus confirms the users (whether they consult or contribute) in the use by the explicit presentation of the shared perspective.
