Designing a rewarding management system

Knowledge management systems

The purpose of the ISO 30401:2018 knowledge management systems standard is "to help organizations design a management system that values and facilitates the creation of value from knowledge".

ISO 30401:2018 knowledge management systems sets out rigorous knowledge management principles and requirements to enable organizations to develop competencies to maximize the value of their organizational knowledge.

ISO 30401:2018 knowledge management systems also serves as "the basis for auditing, certification, assessment and accreditation of these organizations by recognized internal and external audit bodies".

Clarification of the ISO 9001 standard

How to access the knowledge for certification?

The ISO 9001 standard specifies in three points how to access the knowledge to obtain the certification:

  1. Identify the knowledge required (including intellectual property rights and experience) to implement its processes and achieve product/service conformity;
  2. Maintain and make available knowledge, from both internal and external sources, to stakeholders;
  3. Determine how to acquire or access the necessary additional knowledge.

Knowledge Management a virtue of the company

Improving the visibility of the actors and their competences

Knowledge management is therefore inevitable if quality is to become an intrinsic and permanent virtue of the company. It improves visibility on the actors and their skills, while formalising the knowledge and know-how linked to the activities.

By putting people at the centre of the organisation, good knowledge management undeniably contributes to the improvement of practices and processes, as well as the sharing and transfer of knowledge.
