In the implementation of a KM project, the deployment is an essential phase because it is at this moment that things become concrete and that the technical and methodological choices are validated. The members of the Knowledge Management team are confronted with the reality of the field.
To achieve this, we propose two important steps:
1- Deployment of the pilot(s) :
This important step defines the pilot's road map (or Proof of concept Road map) with the organisation of the teams' schedule, the logistical organisation, the communication and awareness time of the Knowledge Management team, a concrete implementation of the process tasks selected for the pilot.
A report on the implementation of the pilot(s) is delivered.
2- Global deployment of the project:
After the deployment of the pilot(s) on a restricted perimeter, which have validated the choice of tools and methods, a change of scale takes place. In order to cover the whole of the chosen perimeter with all the activities of the KM process as defined in the previous steps, the global deployment must be done step by step, often with the help of relevant "quick-Win" actions that reassure the users or knowledge producers. Everything must be organised in a prioritised action plan. At the end of the global deployment, the organisation is perfectly autonomous in controlling its Knowledge Management process.
Activity reports fed by adapted indicators are produced periodically as well as progress reports with the pilot team.
Timeframe: 2 to 6 months for the pilot.
